Liberty Chair
by Humanscale
Humanscale® Liberty® Chair
One of the finest combinations of style, form and function available today, especially in an ergonomic chair, the Liberty® chair by Humanscale is your user-friendly choice for home office applications, or anywhere you need a chair that provides unrestricted comfort. The airy, transparent look of the chair's backrest disappears into the decor of almost any room in your home.
Unlike any mesh chair you've experienced, Liberty combines all the benefits of traditional mesh seating — breath-ability, durability, sustainability and aesthetic appeal — with the body-friendly support of contoured foam cushions. Instead of using a single, flat panel of stretch mesh for the backrest, Liberty features three panels of extremely low-stretch mesh, bonded together in a specific pattern (inspired by the trim fit of men's tailored shirts) to create a contoured shape optimized for the human back. The result is Liberty's Form-Sensing Mesh Technology, which provides exceptional lumbar support automatically, without an external lumbar device to adjust. Liberating features include:
- Self-adjusting recline
- Form-sensing mesh backrest
- Pivoting backrest
- Optional gel seat cushion
Weighing in at just 27 lbs., the new lightweight ergonomic championship contender: Liberty! Customizable chairs ship within 4 to 6 weeks, or get yours right away with our in-Stock Quick Ship selection.
Humanscale® Liberty® Chair
The user-friendly Liberty® chair from Humanscale uses form-sensing mesh technology, fabricated from 3 panels of low-stretch, breathable mesh bonded together like a man's tailored shirt, to fit the contours of the human back. The elegant, modern design of the Liberty hugs your body shape without the need for manual controls (except seat height and depth), and provides excellent lumbar support automatically, without the need for an external lumbar device.
Liberty is available in a wide range of colors, fabrics, leathers and frame options.

Humanscale History

Humanscale stands for: 1) Superior performance 2) Effortless operation 3) Excellent quality The company requires that their products solve a problem, are comfortable and less complicated, so people can focus on their task at hand.
Humanscale achieves superior performance by designing furniture in accordance with how people actually work — how they sit, type and move at their desks. Since people don’t think about their posture or the physical relationship of their body to objects while they work, Humanscale products do it for them. Their products react to peoples’ movements and adjust to their bodies, instead of the other way around for unsurpassed comfort. Although familiar in appearance, Humanscale products function differently, intuitively, with no learning curve and they are designed for rigorous use and maximum durability. Most are guaranteed for life.
Humanscale’s development of high-performance ergonomic office tools began in 1983. Beginning with its first product — an anti-glare filter that improved the visibility of monochrome monitors in the early 1980s — the company has methodically designed some of the most innovative products in the industry. In the 1990s with the introduction of high-performance articulating keyboard systems, Humanscale made a very significant contribution to the ergonomic industry. In 1999, Humanscale took the contract furniture industry by storm with the introduction of the Freedom chair, designed by ergonomics pioneer Niels Diffrient. The revolutionary seating solution broke new ground by combining unprecedented functionality with minimal manual controls, utilizing dynamic mechanisms that respond to the requirements of each individual user automatically. In 2009, Humanscale sold its millionth Freedom chair.
